Kenon Mushroom

Sustainability – From Australian Soil to Your Plate

Kenon Mushrooms featured on ABC Landline – July 2025

Introduction

Established in 2005, Kenon Mushrooms is the earliest and largest producer of Asian mushrooms in Queensland, Australia. With two farms in Logan producing oyster and shiitake mushrooms, and a facility in Bundaberg manufacturing high-quality substrate bags, we have developed into a leading supplier of specialty mushrooms.

Our operations include more than 2,200 square metres of modern growing sheds, allowing us to produce tonnes of fresh mushrooms each week. In addition to our own production, we also import and supply a wide variety of specialty mushrooms such as enoki, king oyster, and shimeji to meet the needs of the Australian market.

Kenon Mushrooms is committed to research and development. We have worked with CSU, Central Queensland University, The University of Adelaide, and relevant government departments to bring a number of innovations into practical use. These include utilising sugarcane bagasse as substrate, developing smart mushroom containers, creating mushroom sauces, and implementing methods for recycling mushroom waste.

Sustainability is a core focus of our business. Our continuous efforts in this area have been recognised through government funding to support our initiatives. We were also featured on ABC Landline, which generated strong public support and interest from other companies seeking to collaborate with us on future projects.

Today, Kenon Mushrooms continues to combine large-scale production with innovation and sustainability, delivering high-quality products while driving positive advancements in the mushroom industry.
